“Vellum Imago” interprets the complex, ambivalent relationships that are shaped and cemented in place by family stories. Deer parchment, wet-formed and sewn over a bronze frame, embodies the tension between our public role and the private self that is unseen, even by those closest to us. Suspended on a bronze chain, the form conveys the sense of something both precious and entrapped; a double shadow suggests multiple or conflicted identities.
2017; deerskin wet-formed and sewn, fabricated bronze frame, chain & escutcheon, giclée print, LED illumination
